A combination of allowable strength design and hydrodynamic diffraction and response was proposed as a safety evaluation technology for floating steel box type girder bridges. For the steel box girder, AISC specification for allowable strength design was considered, and for pontoons, Design Mannual of Port Design were applied. In designing the steel box girder, load combinations and load factors were presented to examine the ultimate strength. In addition, for the Pontoon foundation, a hydrodynamic dynamic analysis was performed on the environmental load in the sea area, and the natural period was evaluated. As a result, it was possible to evaluate safety of floating steel box girder bridges using the proposed safety evaluation technology. The strength examination results of the steel box girder were confirmed to be within the allowable strength. For hydrodynamic analysis, the response amplitude function of the pontoon foundation was largest for roll motion, and the damping case was largest for surge motion. In addition, the natural period based on each pontoon was able to evaluate the response amplitude operator to avoid the extreme load.
