Typical damage cases occurring in the floating bridge include the detachment of the key plate from the hinge and footing roller connection pin, the dislodgement of bearing balls in the footing roller section. In this study, a three-dimensional analysis was conducted using the ABAQUS program to investigate and assess the causes of these damages. The primary cause of key plate damage was identified as increased friction in the rotating component due to wear and fixation, which impedes the smooth operation of the connection pin. Consequently, the stress exerted on the key plate fixing bolt exceeded the yield stress, leading to bolt fracture and subsequent key plate detachment. Additionally, it was confirmed that the deviation of the bearing balls in the footing roller section resulted in increased stress on the bearing balls due to contact with the bearing support part, which was exacerbated by the presence of foreign substances.
